OUR HISTORY

Trinity Baptist Church of Deliverance was founded by Pastor Lula B. Gardner in 1982.  At the time, there was a small, but faithful, band of worshippers, including some of Pastor Gardner's children, who gathered in the home of Pastor Gardner and her husband, Virgil R. Gardner, Sr., for church service. Not long after, Pastor Gardner leased a storefront building on Clarke Avenue in the town of Pocomoke, Maryland, and this would be the new location for the ministry for some years to come. What has been known as Trinity Baptist Church of Deliverance for years started out as First National Deliverance Center.

God would later bless Trinity with the ability to purchase a small church located in Fruitland, Maryland. Trinity would often face many challenges, but God always brought us through them all. Years later, after worshipping and experiencing so many memorable occasions at our Fruitland, Maryland, location, our church building started to deteriorate with a lot of structural damage that we could no longer pour money into. After much prayer and consideration, Trinity vacated the property and listed it on the market to sell. This was a difficult time, as the health of both Pastor Gardner and her husband began to decline. Our founding pastor and her husband were both called to their eternal rest, but prior to Pastor Gardner's passing on July 18, 2020, she installed her daughter, Vanessa Gillette, as senior pastor of Trinity Baptist Church of Deliverance on September 1, 2019.

OUR FUTURE

In this dispensation of grace, God is emphasizing to our ministry to serve Him and others through His greater love - agape love, which is unconditional. Our purpose is to let others know about Him and to be the example - the salt and the light for the world, and to remain faithful to God, rather than the pursuit of  distractions from what God had specifically designed for our ministry. Though we may not have understood how God was bringing everything together, we can now see that He was reminding us to stay focused on Him and our mission and purpose, and to know we can't accomplish God's will without loving others. Through this, we were able to identify scriptures that guide us and give us understanding for what God has called Trinity to remain focused on:

Matthew 22:37-39

Loving God with our whole heart, soul, and mind, and loving others as we love ourselves.

Matthew 28:19-20

Go out and make disciples of all nations, teaching them what God has taught us.

Matthew 5:13-16

We are the salt of the earth, and God wants our light to shine before others so He is glorified.
